Drop Off/Pick Up
The preferred method is for consignors to drop off their items. Drop-off is in the West End of Kingston, on Bishop Street.Pickup service may be available for an additional fee, payable before collection. Please pack items in cardboard boxes, reusable bags, or totes that you do not require back, as these are reused during buyer pickups.
Auction Scope
Lemon’s Loot runs all eligible items through an online MaxSold auction. There is a short list of prohibited and non-accepted items that is available upon request. Auctions typically feature an average of 180–300 listings. If you have fewer items, Lemon’s Loot will run the auction with other consignors’ items and/or supplement it with Lemon’s Loot inventory.
All items accepted must be in clean, sellable condition. Please ensure they are free from dirt, dust, pest damage, smoke damage, and/or price stickers (unless unable to be removed, i.e. printed on new-in-box items).
Lemon’s Loot does reserve the right to refuse items that are not suitable for auction.
Payout & Commission Structure
I offer a payout to you of 50% of the final hammer price. So if an item sells for $50, you'd get $25. All the premium (18%) and tax (13%) go directly to Maxsold and not to me as the seller, so they are excluded in the payout.
The other 50% is to cover the commissions charged for hosting the auction on Maxsold and the commission earned by Lemon's Loot for hosting the sale.
Bidding Details
All items open at $0, if there are no bids by auction close, the items remain unsold. You will have the option to take back these items or have them relisted once more by Lemon's Loot in a following auction (at no extra charge).
Unsold items you wish to take back must be picked up within 7 days of auction close. Failure to pick up will result in storage fees for each additional day.
The beginning bid is set at $1.00 and increases with each additional bid. Because auctions are demand-driven, the final selling price is determined solely by bidder participation and market demand. The consignor acknowledges that Lemon's Loot does not guarantee any minimum selling price, valuation, or financial return for any consigned item(s).
You are welcome to bid on your own items, but please note that if you are the winning bidder, the commission payout structure remains the same.
Unpaid Invoices & No Shows
If the invoices from customers are unpaid, there is no payout, and again, you can get the item(s) back. This doesn't happen often with the new measures Maxsold has added, but I still note it as a possibility.
If the customer doesn't show and doesn't make alternative arrangements with me, they are charged a 21% restocking fee from Maxsold and the rest of their purchase is refunded. This does happen here and there, unfortunately. In that case, the item(s) are still available to be returned to you or resold in the next auction. There is no way for me to contact or offer to the next bidder at this point in time. In the case of a refund, the 21% restock fee is split in the same fashion.
Payment from Maxsold
There is some processing time on Maxsold's side after the auction. Usually within 72 hours I know who is a no-show and/or requested a refund. Then its approximately 7-14 days from the pick up that they send me a wire transfer. At that point, I'll send you an e-transfer with your payout and also provide you with a sold statement!
